Message in a bottle - How COVID has impacted not only our lives but also the way we communicate and the way we "travel".
Maybe it’s an understatement to say that things have changed a lot over this past year. But what’s kept me going during these challenging times is seeing the way that creators and innovators have found new ways to connect with others during a time that discourages such an act. At The Italian Cellar, making the exploration of new cultures accessible is an integral part in what we do. We believe that travel is, and has always been, more than getting on a plane. It’s about going out of your comfort zone, trying something new, and learning from other people. Part of travel is grappling with the unknown--an act that is part of everyday life in quarantine.
Aside from reading, watching vlogs, and listening to podcasts, I have used my time in quarantine to sink myself into my hobbies. And, of course, that would be wine. I’ve taken the time to look into some of the wines that I’ve been enjoying by looking up producers and studying grapes. This led me to following wineries and vineyards on social media and to see a little bit more of their stories. Watching someone’s experience within something as universal and affecting as COVID-19 has led me to feel more connected within our global community. It’s made me realize that every bottle has a story and no matter where you are in the world, at least we are able to share that moment and story with our loved ones and evoke some of the same feelings of travel and connection through the message inside a bottle of wine.
